Western Australia roads upgrades being planned
Three road upgrades are being planned in Western Australia, which will improve safety and journey times for drivers, while cutting congestion at peak periods. Funding for the projects will be provided jointly by the Australian Federal Government and the Western Australia State Government. In all the work will be for a total of 37.6km of road improvements and will cost close to US$105 million (A$131.7 million). The improvements will be carried out on the Route 95 road, connecting Muchea and Wubin, located to the north of Perth. Sections of the road close to Muchea, Pithara and and Miling will be widened with additional lanes, new bypass sections and will benefit from realignments to key stretches. The road provides an important cross-country link for Western Australia and its economically important mining industry, as it connects Perth with Port Hedland.
